Laws abolished and laws that cannot be abrogated

In the Bible, there are many words related to law such as commandments, regulations, and statutes. To understand the precise meaning of each of these words, we need to look up each word in the original text of the Bible. By doing so, we can learn the exact meaning of these words. However, in the translated Bibles we use, we often see cases where the same word is translated differently or different words with different meanings are translated into the same word.

One clear fact in the Bible is that the principles and procedures by which God saves sinners are recorded, and there are rules and principles about what His people should do and how they should live in the process of salvation.

The Bible shows about five types of laws. They are the laws of nature, laws of health, laws of sacrifice, Israelite civil law, and the moral law known as the Ten Commandments.

The laws of nature refer to the laws related to the operation of the natural world, as mentioned in Genesis 1:14, where God said, "Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night. And let them be for signs and for seasons, and for days and years." This natural law is a law that cannot be abolished or changed as long as nature exists.

The laws of health, which are mainly mentioned in Leviticus in the Old Testament, distinguish between food that people can eat and food they should not eat. Quarantining patients with infectious diseases is also part of the laws of health. This law of health is a law that does not need to be abolished as long as people need health.

Israelite civil law was a law limited to the Israelites of that time and was not related to other nations.

One of the most common laws in Leviticus is related to the laws and regulations of the priesthood. And all the regulations related to sacrifices in the sanctuary were a foreshadowing of the crucifixion of Jesus. Therefore, these laws and regulations were all abolished at the moment when Jesus returned from the cross, and they are no longer necessary to be observed. The Bible verses that mention the abolition of the law in the New Testament refer to these laws and regulations related to the priesthood.

And the moral law, the Ten Commandments, is a law that cannot be abolished as long as humans need morality. Unfortunately, many followers of Jesus believe that the Ten Commandments were abolished along with Jesus' crucifixion, and that a new commandment of "love" was given. If the Ten Commandments were abolished, it would not be a sin to serve other gods and make idols, nor would it be a sin to murder or commit adultery.

If there were no commandments, everyone in this world would not be a sinner, which is completely contradictory to the Bible. The Bible clearly teaches what love is. Jesus our Lord said in John 14:15 in the New Testament, "If you love me, you will keep my commandments." And in the same chapter, verse 21, he said, "Whoever has my commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves me. And he who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and manifest myself to him."

There are too many non-biblical contents on the internet and YouTube. Do not believe any "theory" or "argument," and the answer to all problems is in the Bible. Therefore, it is necessary to meditate and study the Bible with the help of the Holy Spirit to obtain the correct answer. We will continue to study related contents. Shalom!
